Rules For Success

Posted: November 6th, 2008 under General Advice.

Now these pointers may seem like common sense to some of you, but you would also be amazed at how many people fail to recognize these things as crucial to making money, as  well as succeeding in life in general.

The reason I say that, is because while this tips are aimed at helping you earn more online, they could also be applied just as easily (and should be) in your day-to-day life.

#1. Be Honest.

This may seem like the most obvious thing you should do when trying to run an online business, but as  said, many who aspire to work from home online don’t pay this any heed. Be warned, if you are not honest about anything to do with your work, it will come back to haunt you eventually. This ranges from making false claims about your products, to stealing other people’s work and selling it as your own. DON’T TELL LIES!

#2. Be Real

You’ve heard it before, just be yourself! Many of the most successful Internet Marketers out there have gotten where they are because of ONE thing: they let their personalities shine through. People like to ‘know’ who they’re working with or being serviced by, even if it’s as simple as posting some photos. This is one of the main reasons why I recommend making videos to market your products or services… It gets people comfortable with you by letting them actually see and hear you, and if people are comfortable with YOU, then they are that much more likely to buy your products, use your services, or give you their money for something else. Don’t be afraid of who you are or putting yourself out there, remember: if a LAZY STONER can sell himself to people, than YOU CAN TOO! You don’t have to have a wild or crazy personality to make an impression on people, some people are looking for a different approach. After all, it’s a niche just like any other… For example, some people come here and say: “I’d never buy anything from a LAZY STONER!!!” regardless of how great a guy they realize I am from watching my videos :) But then again, there are plenty of others who wouldn’t let something so petty stop them from taking advantage of the wisdom and great tips I offer

#3. Stand Behind Your Products And Services

Yet more common sense… What this basically boils down to: don’t sell shitty products or services and don’t disappear once you have a customer’s money. Of course nobody wants to sell a crap product, but once again, you’d be amazed at how many do. You can eliminate countless hours of headaches and customer service issues simply by ensuring that your products work well and any installation process or usage is outlined clearly in an included document. Seriously, I know people who have wasted probably 20+ hours responding to customer inquiries about installing their product on a web server when they could have simply spent 1 hour throwing together a nice looking (and comprehensive) installation guide in PDF format. Instead they chose to spend 10 minutes typing up the most basic install instructions ever in a text file and spent 20x the time it would have cost answering stupid questions. This leads into the next point: don’t leave your customers hanging. If someone purchases your product, has a question on it, and sends you an email about it, they expect for you to WRITE THEM BACK! This is why you should aim to please with your documentation - to minimize the time you spend answering questions about it’s basic usage. This allows you more time to begin new projects, which means more money for you. In any event, you need to respond to customer’s issues as quickly as possible and offer the best after-sales service you can. If you are making decent money from your products, you can even hire someone to do this for you for very cheap, ensuring top-notch and immediate support for your clients. Your clients WILL tell other people about their experiences with your company.
